Workshops and classes

Dance City is providing a series of workshops suitable for a range of ages and abilities during the month-long festival, including Dive in at DC! a special day of workshops and performances for families on Bank Holiday Monday 5 May.

What do you think?

A series of festival talks and discussions offers audiences the opportunity to meet and talk to choreographers and performers taking part in the festival.

Ten minute moves

Saturday 3, Saturday 10, Saturday 17 May

Dance City’s social space will be animated every Saturday during the festival with performances from youth dance companies, dance schools and community groups. An opportunity to see the best of the region’s emerging talent and outstanding local dancers and ensembles.

Show us your moves

Throughout the festival, dance choreography students from Northumbria University will be around the city collecting video clips of movement from the general public. The collected clips will be edited into a video that will be screened during the festival. Participants will be invited to receive a personal copy of the video so watch out for the students in festival t-shirts in town throughout May.
